Carmac Diesel Ltd. was established in 1975 and was originally an exclusive Detroit™ diesel engine repair facility. Gradually, Carmac Diesel expanded our products and services to include Cummins® diesel engines, Perkins® diesel engines, Allison Transmissions and Twin Disc marine gears. Carmac Diesel spent most of its early years servicing the logging, commercial fishing and yachting industries.
In 1990, John McKinnon purchased his partner’s assets in the company and became the sole owner. That same year, his daughter Cori (current owner) came to work for him and started an apprenticeship in the parts department. In 1996, Scott (current owner) also joined the company and worked as a mechanic; Scott was a ticketed Commercial Transport Mechanic, but at the time, Carmac Diesel was solely working on diesel engines and transmissions.
Due to a decline in the economy and some tough times in the logging industry, Scott approached John with the idea of starting to work on trucks. Over the following years, we created a relationship with International® Trucks, and to date, we are now a full parts, service and warranty repair facility for International Trucks.
In 2008, the second generation of John’s family re-organized the business to allow for John’s retirement. The current owners, Scott and Cori Beaudin, love what they do and pride themselves on the relationships they have created with their employees and customers alike.
